Frank Eggert & Sam Hunt (11 C) won on the 13th against Robert Eriksson & Alan Turpie (20 C) 6/5.
Conditions were heavy but rain free. Congratulations to Frank and Sam.
There is a lot of pressure in foursomes as the team's destiny is shared depending on each others shots. Not only that but a team mate's opportunity, as far as placement for their next shot is concerned, is dictated by the other team member. It is very exciting.
Here is a piece about Foursomes from the SMH. It shows what pressure there can be.
From the Sydney Morning Herald Article , an article written by Peter Stone about last year's President Cup.
Baddeley and Day lament the point that got away
".... It can be a harrowing game as players are not in control of their own destiny.
Your partner's shot dictates your next shot, but the general rule is that you don't say sorry in foursomes golf, no matter the rubbish you might put your partner in. ......."
Well done to the teams and congratulations again to Frank and Sam for the win and to Alan and Robert being runner up.
all the best
Kevin
nb. i've participated in two finals two weeks in a row - but only as a referee, but I see this as getting closer.
